Highly Recommend ‘Out of Your Mind’
I’ve taken to audio books. And I just finished ‘Out of Your Mind: Essential Listening from the Alan Watts Audio Archives’.
Insightful. Humorous. Clear.
I seem to be gravitating a lot to these East-West philosophers — those from the East who went West (like Jiddu Krishnamurti) or those from the West who went East (like Alan Watts). It’s because I’m east-west. Both east and west.
If you’re not familiar with Alan Watts, he’s a British-born philosopher, writer, and speaker. Trained in Zen, the philosophy he expounds also draws from Hinduism, the Chinese Dao, Pantheism, and modern physics. His talks are filled with relatable analogies to rather abstract concepts.
I highly recommend this 12-hour listen to gain a deeper (and not so serious) understanding of this thing we call existence. A teaser:
